SUMMARY:It’s not the car, it’s me!
DESCRIPTION:Vintage will be visible when Contraband Antique Automobile Club of America hits Port Neches Park. Louisiana car lovers will cross into Texas with ’57 Chevys, Model As, coups and Corvettes. They’ll join the third annual Cajun Jam and Car Show in the Park, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14. Port Neches Park, on Grigsby Avenue, is set on the banks of the Neches River and includes La Maison Beausoliel, a Cajun home; Tugboat Island play station for children; and a spray park.  Admission to the car show is free. James and Laura Stratton of Moss Bluff, La. are heading the Contraband AACA Car Tour 2012, which will spend two nights in Port Arthur. He’ll display his black ’35 Plymouth that features a note of scripture from Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Stratton says people think the reference to  “unfinished” works is about his car. “I tell them it’s not about the car, it’s about me,” Stratton joked. For Cajun Jam details, call Jerry Bellot, president of the Cajun French Music Association of Louisiana Inc. Golden Triangle Chapter, at (409) 983-5118. While in town,  AACA members plan to drive around Port Arthur’s historic home area along the Sea Wall for stops such as Museum of the Gulf Coast. As car lovers, they should appreciate the replica of Janis Joplin’s psychedelic Porsche.
