A bouquet from around the world is blooming at Museum of the Gulf Coast.
Blossom II: Art of Flowers features floral images from the International Competition. Port Arthur Historical Society will sponsor the exhibit through July 22. Dig the green thumb extra: A Gardens in Film series.
The Susan K. Black Foundation sponsors the International Competition. Nearly 1,350 artists from 35 countries entered some 2,300 entries to BLOSSOM II. Not one, but two juries of extraordinary experts were assembled to select works for the exhibition which premiered at the Naples Museum of Art in 2011.
The “Gardens in Film” Series will be at 2 p.m. Saturdays. Film admittance is FREE and includes admission to the Blossom exhibition as well as the Museum’s many permanent exhibits, such as tributes to Janis Joplin, Jimmy Johnson and The Big Bopper. The film schedule is as follows:
June 16 – “Fantasia”
June 23 – “Enchanted April”
June 30 – “Green Card”
July 7 – “A Room with a View”
July 14 – “The Secret Garden”
July 21 – “Pride & Prejudice”
The Museum of the Gulf Coast is owned and operated by the Port Arthur Historical Society in partnership with Lamar State College – Port Arthur and the City of Port Arthur.
