Wave your flag at Port Arthur’s Independence Day celebration , offering a blast of fireworks over the water after an evening of patriotic presentations from bagpipes to scenes from “Oliver!” 
Lamar State College-Port Arthur will present its 13th annual Independence Day celebration, featuring free musical and theatrical entertainment. The city of Port Arthur, Motiva and KBTV Fox 4 also team up to present the family event, to begin at 7:30 p.m., July 4, in the Carl Parker Multipurpose Center, 1800 Lakeshore Drive.
Port Neches Veterans of Foreign Wars will post the colors. LSC-PA Theater Department and the Port Arthur Little Theatre will present an excerpt from the upcoming presentation of “Oliver!” Bring blankets or lawn chairs and a picnic for the fireworks over the Intracoastal Canal, which runs adjacent to the campus. The display is set to begin around 9 p.m.
“We invite everyone to bring their friends and family to this wonderful celebration that will show what the Fourth of July really is all about,” said Tom Neal, vice president for student services at the college, and emcee for the evening.
Parking is available around the Parker Center and the Lamar Lecture Hall. Additional parking is available in front of the Performing Arts Center.
