When you are looking for adventure, Port Arthur and Southeast Texas are where it’s at. Writer, Tina Lassen, obviously had an idea about the kind of fun a person could come to find here. She especially had her heart set on seeing a ‘gator… and you know our Southeast Texas ‘gators are always ready to oblige.
Starting with an early morning fishing trip with Capt. Randy, we made our way through all the main waterways of Port Arthur. Taylor’s Bayou was the “Land of Opportunity” when it came to getting the big bites, though. Capt. Randy, Tina, and myself, all caught at least one fish. Ms. Lassen was the only one to catch a keeper, though! She wasn’t going to be able to take the fine speckled trout that she caught with her after leaving, and generously offered the fish to me. I took it home, fillet & grilled it (with spices and lime juice) and had it for dinner. DELICIOUS! This was, of course, after our thrilling airboat ride. We saw many different types of flora & fauna… and of course – GATORS!
There is so much outdoor adventure for anyone in any age group to do in the area. If you are planning to tackle it all, I definitely reccommend that you plan on spendind a few days working at it. You will need them!
If you need any ideas, or info on where to go to get in on the adventure, feel free to look around the website in the outdoor recreation section. Or, you can reach us here, at the CVB, at 409-985-7822.
